IN 1865,
German farmers started a legacy in Camp Springs, Kentucky.
They pulled stone from the earth, clay from the creek, and fired their own hand-made bricks.
The best ones built the church.
The rest built the bar.
Here’s to the Ghosts of our fathers
bonded by blood, baptized in beer, and bound over bourbon.

A 160 year TRADITION

Tyler Shelton/Bezold
Fourth great-grandson (maternal) of Matthias Kremer (1865)
First direct descendant to own the bar since 1889.

Keith Neltner
Keith bought the bar from Damien Pelle in 2016. His artistic touch elevated our history in a way that had never been done.
He ushered in the new era of Camp Springs.

Ollie saved the bar from being closed.
Ollie’s Great-Grandson, Ben is the owner of 4-Mile Wine (Available at the bar)

The priest of the Church bought the bar in 1943 to close it for good.

Owned the bar through WWI, The Great Depression and The Prohibition.
Without them this bar wouldn’t still be here.

Matthias Kremer
Farmer. Shoe Cobbler. Builder.
Matthias traveled from Germany, walking from the center of the country to the coast with his wife & three children to board a boat that would ultimately bring them here.
Matthias son, Michael, would take over the bar at some point up until 1889.
